Criptonite:
Panel Audiodescription

April 2021

We are creating our very first online panel and it's on Audio description as creative practice. Come join us!

Currently, very few theatre productions in Switzerland use audio description so that they are accessible to blind and visually impaired audiences, and it’s even rarer for productions to use the creative potential of audio description to enrich artistic work. In this panel, Criptonite is talking to Berlin-based artists Fia Neises and Xenia Taniko, as well as London-based artists Quiplash (Amelia Lander-Cavallo and Al Lander-Cavallo) about their work with audio description as a queer and crip artistic practice.

How can audio description shape and enrich productions? How has the lived experience of Amelia Lander-Cavallo and Sophia Neises as blind artists and users of audio description influenced their approach?

What are the differences between London and Berlin, the cultural landscapes the artists work in, when it comes to audio description? How do both teams deal with various questions around privilege that come up in their practice? Please join us for an evening of dazzling conversation about audio description and its creative potential!
